Altarum’s Chief Executive Officer and President Michael Monson will participate in a panel, Challenges in Financing and Payment, during a public workshop hosted by a planning committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. In addition to Michael, the panel will feature disability rights activist Ari Ne’eman, a PhD candidate in health policy at Harvard University, and Cheryl Powell, senior principal at Mitre. It will be moderated by Hoangmai (Mai) Pham, president and chief executive officer, Institute for Exceptional Care

The workshop will explore the challenges of, and opportunities for, creating an optimal care system for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It will explore questions related to three areas of focus:

  • models of care that deliver holistic, tailored, and coordinated care;
  • the development of a competent workforce; and
  • effective financing and payment approaches.

The workshop, which runs from 1:00–4:00 pm ET on December 8, 10, and 14, will focus not only on the health care system but also on how it might coordinate with peers in other service domains. Learn more about this event and view the full agenda here.
