There is a significant opportunity to enhance and better align programs for individuals eligible for full Medicaid and Medicare benefits (dually eligible individuals). Most individuals currently access care and supports that are fragmented across the two programs. With new tools available, states have great opportunity to adopt approaches to improve individuals’ experiences, outcomes, and quality of life. States can also address the cost-shifting that occurs between the two programs and develop efforts to maximize Medicare service coverage. However, states need support to develop expertise and capacity to take on dual integration.

Join this webinar with Altarum Medicare-Medicaid Services for States (AMMS) to hear how the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recent CY 2023 MA and Part D Rule provides states with new tools to coordinate and integrate care for this population with Medicare Advantage Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP). Also, learn of ways to strengthen state capacity to build better programs for dually eligible individuals. The webinar will spotlight the state of Virginia’s journey using innovative program approaches to advancing this important work.

Panelists:

  • Nancy Archibald, Associate Director for Integrated Care, Federal Programs, Center for Health Care Strategies
  • Lindsay Barnette, Director for Models, Demonstrations, and Analysis Group, Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
