Altarum Announces Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt as New Board of Trustees Member

Altarum announced today that Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, a national leader in public health, has joined Altarum’s Board of Trustees, effective January 1, 2024.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nesbitt to our Board of Trustees. Her extensive experience and dedication to health equity and improving our nation’s public health system will play a pivotal role in shaping Altarum’s strategic initiatives and driving positive change to providing accessible health care to all communities,” said Michael Monson, Altarum chief executive officer and president.

Dr. Nesbitt is a family physician with over a decade of experience leading population health initiatives in governmental public agencies. She currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Population Health Sciences and Health Equity and Bicentennial Endowed Professor of Medicine and Health Sciences at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She also serves as the inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Population Health Sciences and Health Equity. 

Prior to joining The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Nesbitt served as the Director of the District of Columbia Department of Health in Washington, DC, where she led with a focus on health equity and improving the quality of health programs and health care services for all DC residents to address DC’s health challenges. Prior to her role in DC, Dr. Nesbitt served as the Director of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, where she was responsible for leading initiatives focused on Affordable Care Act implementation and violence prevention.

Throughout her career, Dr. Nesbitt has led multi-sector collaborations to address innovation in health care delivery and its impact on high cost, high need, and other special populations, the integration of public health and health care, and the impact of emerging infectious diseases on population health.
