Altarum to Present at CSTE 2021 Annual Conference

June 08, 2021

Experts from Altarum's Center for Public Health Interoperability will present at the 2021 Annual Conference of CSTE, the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, a leading organization of professionals engaged in the practice of epidemiology for a governmental public health authority.

Jim Kamp, who leads Altarum's work for the Vital Records and Health Statistics Division of Michigan, will discuss how the state is working with several hospital systems to test replacing a paper-based process for reporting births to the state with an electronic process. The project is notable as it's one of the earliest efforts to show how information from electronic health records can be used to support public health and state-mandated reporting.

Craig Newman, PhD, who serves on the HL7 Public Health Work Group and leads Altarum's newborn screening interoperability work, will share results of a public health interoperability landscape survey he conducted earlier this year to identify needs, opportunities, gaps, and barriers to adopting standards that support public health reporting requirements.
