Several of our experts attended the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting last month to share findings of our work in eldercare, oral health, opioid use disorder, and military health—all in the service of our mission to advance health of vulnerable and publicly insured populations.
We presented our evaluation findings from the Perinatal Infant Oral Health Quality Program grants, a pilot project funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau to improve the quality of oral health to pregnant women and infants across the country. We shared results of a survey we conducted on the experience of grandparents raising grandchildren displaced by the opioid crisis, and ways in which communities can coordinate local services so more grandparents obtain the support they need. We showed how interoperable public health tools can improve access to preventive dental care among low-income children, and ways to create a mode of governance at the community level to monitor and manage eldercare support services.
We also discussed best practices to improve patient experience with military treatment facility pharmacies—we work closely with military health agencies in the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs, applying advanced analytical and research methods to improve health of active duty service members, military spouses and children, and veterans.
We do this work not just to help our clients—though they are our top priority—but also to disseminate and share valuable findings throughout the public health community so practitioners everywhere benefit from the latest best practices and research.
