Today Altarum, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing the health of individuals with fewer financial resources and populations disenfranchised by the health care system, announces Jason Young as president of its subsidiary, Palladian Partners. Palladian is a health-focused strategic communications and marketing firm of 130 professionals that is based in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Young is a two-time Obama Administration appointee who served at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from 2012 to 2014 and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 2016 to 2017. He also led two public relations practices and taught at Georgetown University.
“Jason is a proven communications and marketing leader who brings a collaborative approach and an inclusive mindset to all his work. Over his career he has demonstrated a passion for advancing Americans’ health, which aligns perfectly with Palladian’s mission and work,” said Michael Monson, Altarum’s chief executive officer and president. “I am confident that Jason will take Palladian and its clients to the next level of success.”
Founded in 1996, Palladian has a 26-year record of performance, helping federal agencies, brands and nonprofits advance Americans’ health and well-being.
“I look forward to building on Palladian’s strong track record and working with our top-notch team to solve our clients’ toughest challenges,” said Young. “Not only is our field changing rapidly, but the pandemic has accelerated unprecedented change in health care. Palladian is proactively helping our clients navigate and succeed in this dynamic environment.”
In addition to working at HHS and FDA, Young led external relations for AARP and was chief communications officer at the American Psychiatric Association. Earlier in his career, he worked at two leading PR firms in senior roles: as a vice president of the Glover Park Group (now Finsbury Glover Hering) and as head of the D.C. office of ASGK Public Strategies (now Kivvit). He earned his B.A. in economics from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2018, he earned an M.B.A. from the university’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
