Projections of the Non-Retail Prescription Drug Share of National Health Expenditures

This data brief augments the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) projections of national health expenditures by estimating non-retail prescription drug spending – spending on drugs administered in hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes that CMS captures in spending on these services – to form a projection of total (retail plus non-retail) drug spending as a share of national health expenditures.
