Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs has enlisted Altarum to design and carry out a longitudinal survey of thousands of Veterans to better understand how traumatic experiences affect their health over time.

Our Approach

The study will take place over a year, and involve at least three separate surveys of the cohort. Altarum’s survey scientists worked closely with the VA on the design of the survey, from choosing a sample that is statistically representative of the Veteran population to crafting the wording of the survey questions, to ensure the effort yields relevant and quality data.

Results

The survey is currently in development, and will provide critical information to congressional and VA leadership on the mental health of Veterans, and inform future efforts to treat PTSD and other mental health conditions of Veterans.
