George Miller, PhD, of Altarum’s Center for Value in Health Care, will serve alongside a distinguished group of 20 policy experts on a new Council on Health Care Spending and Value established by the policy journal Health Affairs.
The Council will be led by Co-Chairs Dr. William Frist, former US Senate Majority Leader, and Dr. Margaret Hamburg, foreign secretary of the National Academy of Medicine.
Members include leading policy experts who have appeared at Altarum’s annual sustainable health spending symposium, including Sherry Glied, PhD, Dean of the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, and David Cutler, PhD, Professor of Applied Economics at Harvard University.
Supported by the National Pharmaceutical Council and Anthem, Inc., the Council will facilitate discussion, analysis, and action needed to ensure money spent on health care results in greater value for society. The council will work over the next three years to advance its initiative through conferences, publications, and recommendations for policymakers, providers, payers, employers and consumers. Its first meeting will take place in January 2019.
