Altarum will attend ADvancing State’s 2021 Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Conference which runs December 6–10, virtually and in-person in Baltimore, Maryland. The annual event brings together state, federal, and local policymakers as well as leaders who administer, manage, and deliver waiver and other HCBS programs from across the nation.

Altarum’s Deputy Director of Eldercare Improvement Sarah Slocum will facilitate a dialogue between a group of 5-10 nursing home residents during the 45th annual conference of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care. The residents will discuss their recent experiences and share their perspective on what changes they'd like to see in their individual facilities as well as what steps they think advocacy organizations, the government, and the industry should take to improve and reform long-term care.

Through the PhRMA-funded Research Consortium for Health Care Value Assessment, Altarum has awarded grants to seven teams or individuals to conduct research to inform more robust evidence generation on effectiveness and value of health care services, helping to ensure that health care dollars go where they are needed the most. The researchers will present their work at a webinar on Wednesday, November 3rd.

Margaret Wilkin, MPH, a senior analyst in Altarum’s Center for Women’s Health, will present on her research article “Breastfeeding Duration Is Associated with WIC Site-Level Breastfeeding Support Practices,” which was selected by committee vote for the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior’s (SNEB) 2021 Best Article Award, at the SNEB 2021 Annual Conference.

This two-hour seminar will bring together Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) leaders and experts, policymakers, and advocates to provide an in-depth look at the PACE program and its ability to meet the needs of a growing Medicare population.
